FAQs

Where can Homes To Go deliver to?

We will deliver an RTM anywhere within Alberta & Saskatchewan as long as we can get the house to your site.

Why choose an RTM over a site-built home?

RTM homes are designed to provide a customer with a home that is built just like a site-built home where trades are hard to find. An RTM house uses the same construction methods as a site-built house but is built stronger so that it can be transported to the site. RTM homes tend to have a shorter turn-around time and typically don’t have as many cost overruns as site-built homes.

Does Homes To Go arrange the delivery?

Yes! We check the route to ensure that the house can get to your site and then we coordinate and arrange the house delivery.

How are your homes financed?

All of our homes are typically financed through the financial institution of your choice.

What is the difference between an RTM, Modular Home, and a Mobile Home?

  1. RTM - RTM’s are built and moved in one piece and placed on the foundation. They are built with similar methods to a site-built home but are typically stronger. RTM Homes typically have a quicker turnaround time and allow for quicker occupancy.

  2. Modular Homes - Modular Homes are typically built in multiple sections and then assembled on-site. They are still built similar to a site-built home but typically have a longer turnaround time as they are not usually finished on the inside.

  3. Mobile Home - Modular Homes are typically built in a factory on a steel frame before being transported to the site They have a very quick possession time once the unit arrives on site.

Are the houses inspected as they are built?

We are a CSA-approved RTM builder, meaning that we must adhere to the strict quality control guidelines set out by the CSA. Our houses are inspected daily by our on-site construction supervisor.

Can a garage be built on an RTM?

Yes, as long as the home with the garage is under 91’ long and straight off of the house. There are some site requirements for this to happen such as the foundation for the garage being the same height out of the ground as the house foundation.

What kind of foundation is required for an RTM?

All of our homes require a solid, permanent foundation for the house to be placed on. These options can include a frost wall with a footing, screw piles with an insulated grade beam, or a full basement. Our homes can also be placed on walk-out basements as long as we can access the house from the non-walkout side.

Can you build custom RTM’s?

Yes! We pride ourselves on being a very custom home builder. Our plans can be modified to suit your needs and we give our customers options for all of the finishes that go in the house.

Can RTM’s be built as self-contained units?

Yes, our RTMs can be built in a way where the furnace and all other mechanical components are on the main floor of the house.
